Jeff and Chris Nevin hosted our class visit to Dr. Davies Farm in Congers, New York. They gave an informative, interesting overview, and we learned the multigenerational history of the family owned farm and how they manage the busy agri-tourism season. From learning about Dr Davies herself, who in the late 1800’s was one of only a few female doctors in New York, to how 1,000 gallons of cider are pressed and 9,000 fresh donuts are made each day! - we picked apples from the over 27 varieties of trees and tested all - an educational and impressive experience. We finished with a climb up Hook Mountain to take in some breathtaking views of the Hudson River. A very big thank you to Jeff, Chris, and the entire crew on the farm for an awesome day.
