This week our social studies course (CCC) focused on the history of Paterson and it’s role in the industrial revolution as well as an exploration of roles in municipal and state government. It culminated today with a morning visit to Great Falls National Park where we saw the second largest waterfall by volume east of the Mississippi, and some remnants of the SUM project established by Alexander Hamilton in the late 1700’s. We then met with Assemblywoman Lisa Swain who discussed her journey as a student athlete, founding the women’s track team at her college , on to becoming a mother and nationally ranked endurance athlete, all while balancing her roles in public service. She has served at the municipal and now state level for over 10 years and took some time off her campaign trail to meet and share her story with us - thank you Lisa !!
